Chip burning: Tranny time

Ok i have started burning chips and things are going good, but im wondering what i can do the the values that affect the tranny. What table or constant should i alter to increase the shift firmness. And which way and how much should i alter them? Thanks guys.

All you can affect on the trans is torque converter lock and unlock speeds, RPM and TPS %. The "firmness" of the shifts is controlled by line pressures within the trans.

Right, but the later model trucks come with the 4L60E and line pressure can be adjusted, i just dont know how much and which way, stuff like that.

93 camaros don't have the 4l60e, so i really doubt a TBI truck did.

You could look it up somehwere, or take a quick look under the truck. My dad's 96 is easily ID'd as an E tranny by the big wiring connectors going into it.

If i'm insulting you, and you have already verified your trans is an E, sprry. So then your ECM definition file should have values for things like line pressure, that'd be a good place to start. I saw such values in an editor once for a 4th gen, and again, most were relatively obvious. thing is, this is thirdgen site, so very few here have gone near anything like that so patience is a virtue.

93 trucks had electronic tranny for sure, and I believe some 92 trucks did. Or was that some 93 trucks had them, and all 94 were electronic. I don't know, but I've worked on 93's with 4l60E's

sells an editor that works with the E6 calibration.
If you go to his site, and click on I you can see the perameters it will allow you to edit.

Look at the thread on editing a stock bin, I mentioned what I'd changed in mine.

BTW, the E series trannies were used in 91 in some truck applications. 8625 and 7060 were early PCMs.

Ok, finally got some replies, thanks guys, well as Low C1500 stated, my truck did in fact come with the 4L60E and Grumpy i do have the tunercat software and that definition file, but the real question was which way do i alter the values, because the table has zeros and then negative numbers and positive numbers, i dont want to burn up the tranny, just make it shift firmer. Thanks again guys,
Kenny

You won't find alot of guys that can give advice on adjusting E trannys cause most don't have em. I beleive the line pressure values have a bias thats added to em' , thats why there can negative numbers in some tables.

Try Searching the Full size Chevy truck forum, under the performance section.
