Don't know anything about chip burning...
So I was just curious is there a site I can goto where I can just list my mods and have a custom chip burnt for me? I don't have the time or patience to learn to do it on my own, not to mention the software.

Tuning is what lets an engine perform.
By the time you really get one close from some mail order co., you usually could have bought the stuff, and for aggravation learned how to do your own.
There's lots of Snake Oil being sold in chip form.

If you put a couple quarts of snake oil in there, along with an open-element air filter and a commercial performance chip, you can get deep into the 11's no problem.
What kinda engine is this for again? GM? No problem.

Just in case you didn't know, they are having a bit of sport at your expense.
FYI, the DIY PROM board is just what the name implies. No one on these boards buys chips and most of us don't recommend buying a chip because we all know it is a crock. I personally have zero first hand experience with using commercially available chips. I have a few friends that layed down some dough for them and are satisfied. Then again, they don't do any work on the cars themselves so the notion of learning to tune it is just absurd to them. To each his/her own, I say.
You won't get any leads here for buying a chip. Try "DFI and ECM" or "Tech/General".
Peace...

The guys are messin' with you (and its FUNNY!). What they're trying to say is essentially this:
No one will be able to burn a chip for your application better than you. There are no predefined formulas for this stuff. You can't email some company and say "I have X and Y with a .xyz cam and a XXX stroker. burn me a chip?"
They will burn you a chip, but it isn't going to be precisely what you need. it may be better, but it will never be perfect.
truth is, its a waste of money in almost all cases. your money, time, and frustration is much better spent just learning to do it yourself.
its not as bad as it seems on the surface. give yourself a month and you'll understand enough to do it yourself.

Some simple steps to get started:
1) figure out what ECM your car has
2) figure out what chip your car has (or at least what code mask it uses). Search the boards. You'll find it.
3) Download editing software. There are a number of choices.
4) Find a definition appropriate to your code mask for the software you choose.
5) purchase a burner. www.xtronics.com
6) Play around. Start slow. Change the injector constant slightly, watch the ALDL data and see what changes (BLM/INT). Then change the idle. Play around just to get a feel for things, not necessarily to do any "tuning". Don't be afraid to make some mistakes. If your car runs poorly on a burn, back up a step. Though you *can* do damage to your car in the long run if you run a bad chip, you aren't going to in the short run.
7) read! read, read, read!
8) Figure out how you'd like your car to run. Hypothesise (*read*) about what might need to change to get it to run that way. Then take a deep breath, and make *small* changes to the chip until you notice a change (good or bad). go from there.
A) keep notes. always log the changes you make as well as the perceived outcome.
Although some would have you believe otherwise (and in some cases it can be, but mostly not), its not rocket science!

If you don't want to mess with it, that's understandable. At the risk of getting locked, I'll offer up a referral to a couple guys that do good work for reasonable cost. They'll work with you till it's right, which is what counts.

By the way, in its purest form, it IS rocket science.

Would that be what I need? I have infinite access to a dyno and want to get into chip burning. I am a noobie at the burning game, but would really like to give it a try.

When you get the code sorted with the Romulator, you'd then want to burn a chip. You need a PP II (or similar) for that.
You need to read Traxion's Promintro articles in the stickies.
John
Well, I guess I can use one of those while on the dyno to make life quicker.
Suggestions for a Burner and place to buy one? (TPI, but if I can get one that does TBI too, which I doubt exists, that would be great.)
Or should I just get the PROMinator?

i spoke to a gent at a car show that ordered a custom chip for his 57 chev with a mild 350 LT1 motor from a reputable source. the second chip ordered was not even close. the first was so rich he polluted his oil and plugs in no time. without the advantage of datalogging it is never going to be right. maybe OK some areas and way off in others. practically speaking if it takes hours of datalogging what would be the cost at $50/hour to the tuner. i suspect the car manufacturers spend a lot of time tuning a new efi engine before release to public. i would love to see a guess by one of our xpert tuners(you know who you are) and then compare to what the final product looks like after a dozen burns. a before and after so to speak.
