305 to 350 prom (i am a newbie help please)

Ok I have read (intro to prom burning) I have a 1985 camaro with a 305 TPI w/MAF The car originaly had a 700r4 But Now Has A T-5 and still has the stock chip Is there any thing to change in the chip that will make a difference since there is a t-5 Now.
Also I purchased a GM goodwrench 230hp 350Long Block. I will be swapping the tpi On to this engine in about 3 months. What equipment do I need to burn chips (i don't want to data log anything yet.) also What chips do I need for a 1985, I think that in 85' the prom just pulls out. And how do I get the right .Bin file and Ecm File for a starting point for a 350 tpi w/t-5

Thanks.

ps I know that i should swap harrness to a 86'-89' because the ecms and ALDL connection and ecm are faster but just want to get it right for now. Ecm and harrness swap will be late next year.

Tunercat i belielve has the software for your 85 tpi...

Everyting else u ask of is in all the stickies at the top of the page. Pay special attention to Trax's guide/intor to prom burning...lots of great info for newbies....

Read thru that and other stickies and do some searches for what u are looking for, than if u have more questions feel free to post :-)_

Well, you don't need to swap the harness, justthe ECM. The harness you do a little repinning and like 5 splices to work with the 165 ECM.
Tuning the 870 prom to work right with the 350 would be a waste of time if you plan on doing the 165 swap a little later because you'll be doing a re-tune of the prom in the 165 also.

You could just get the prom for the 85 Corvette and a set of 24# injectors to get you by with the 350 until you get the 165 swap done.

Is it so that -85 vette uses 35 psi fuel pressure with 24 lbs injectors, and is that -85 (870)350 chip direct swap?

Yes, the 85 Vette used 38 PSI with 24# injectors. The chip should be a direct swap, the Vette, T/A & Camaro's all used the 870 ECM in 85 (TPI apps that is)

Being a MAF system it will be somewhat forgiving, more so than a MAP system will be. The cam would really be the kicker, depends on how much more duration and lift over the stock one you'd be going.
