165' ECU With $6E ARAP Editing Flags ?
I have looked over a lot of posts since I have been a member here and can't find a answer to this. In TunerPro in the flags section I Know what VATS, EGR, Man-T, Knock, Vss stand for. But What do the Bit7, Bit6, Bit5 Stand for under each Box.
ok I am a noobie so Please Speak In English (one day I hope to be a Traxion or Grumpy) :hail:

So with those two letters you can represent in code, 8 options.
F represnts 16 in hex, so FF would mean you have a total of 8, 1's
or.
1111 1111
In binary 1111 equals 16 decimal or F in hex.
An entry of 00 would be
0000 0000
An entry of 10 would be
0001 0000
80 = 1000 0000
08 = 0000 1000
In some codes not all the bits are used, and some are just unknown.
When talking of Malfunction flags they are generally just in numberical order 12-55.
I hope that was what you were asking.

(just mod .bin and Flash It) But I don't want to disable something that I shouldn't. Since I have to learn to Crawl before I walk, I want to understand the basics first so I am going to concentrate on Flags till I understad everything about them 200 percent then Move on to Constants. BTW: Thanks to all your and Traxion and a Few Others Knowledge I know Have pretty close to One Full 3 Ring Binder Of Knowledge that I have Printed and Orginized for a reference manual and for times when my eyes hurt so much i can no longer stare at a screen. Just Keep on Keep'n ON

You'll have to check out the hack for this.
You don't need to do anything to these flags, typically, other than uncheck VATS if needed.
Alternately, I updated this ECU in the latest TunerPro version. Everything that is necessary in terms of flags is in the ECU now, with explinations in the comments field.

Searching for other stuff I came across this thread and it raised a couple of questions:
- these flags are missing in 6Ev011.ecu but are available in 6Ev009.ecu. Is there a reason (I think that this is the reason for my recent stupid questions about VATS and a few other things).
- Can turning the fan on because of the AC pressure switch being disconnected be disabled here (instead of by grounding D11 at the ECM or the connector in the engine bay)?

They're not missing from v011. They're renamed to match their ID in code.
Open the flags and look for VATS. Thats what you're looking to disable, right?
Also, don't forget to open the ECU Item Comments window (F10). This explains in more detail each flag.

thanks Magnus, that answers a lot of my questions (I think I caught wind of the better help fields and other good stuff about 2 minutes before you posted this).
I've tried about a dozen different things and I can't figure out why this thing doesn't want to keep running... I'll probably post more details in the other thread or in a new one.

um, none of the $6e bins that I've seen have it checked... my '87 ($32) bin did though. The ones that I burned tonight seem to work fine without it checked
