Still Getting Knock
Still Getting Knock
I have taken away 3deg of spark adavnce in trouble areas mostly in the higher regions (70+kpa - 100kpa 2000-4400 rpm) I have also added fuel in the power enrich spark advance tables. My values are now set at
4800 - 8.79 originally on stock chip value =5.98
3200 - 8.79 originally on stock chip value =5.98
2000 - 6.33 originally on stock chip value = 3.87
1200 - 1.41 originally on stock chip value = 0
400 - 0
But I am still getting knock. BLM are in between 125-131 so they are pretty spot on.
Should I still add more fuel or would it be too much? Or should I just keep taking away spark?

Or you got something wrong in what your wrote?.
Nah should have made it clear I have a 7730 ECM also. Now that I think of it I have not logged all the BLM levels. I have not set the PE TP% higher than 80% so maybe up high it is running a little lean. I will add some more VE value up high and see if that helps at all in my next test run. Looking at the data now I saw a few times of 10deg retard in spark when I was in 95+kpa and above 3000rpm. But it is getting better maybe it still needs less advance but will try adding some VE and see how I go.

Well I have taken out an extra 2 deg of timing in the problem areas increased fuel by another 1.5%.
Took the car out again and still getting timing retard even up to 11deg!
Looks like I have to take out even more. Will not be much left if I keep going as I am going.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say you are adding FUEL to the SPARK advance Power enrichment?? Isn't that table for adding SPARK and thus increase your knock?
I don't think so?? I think that table is for adding a percentage of fuel at certain RPM.
Damn maybe you are right having a look at the table again. What is the table called for adding fuel at a certain RPM range as I thought that was the pwr enrich vs spark advance.

Zero out the PE Spark Advance table and if you want to add more timing, do it through the Extended SA table.
If you want to add fuel, you need to do it through the VE2 table to my understanding. I'm still a novice to, but you're headed off in the wrong direction.
If you haven't tried TRAXION's Super AUJP chip yet, you might want to check it out to see what works and compare settings.
I've got a '91 GTA L98 that I'm having similar problems with here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=223867
I've also pulled out enough spark to be back at stock levels, so I'm going to try adding some fuel now. Hopefully I'll be able to data log tomorrow and will have some info tomorrow.

Look at section 9 and 11. This is for the Typhoon/Syclones' 749, but the PE strategy should hold somewhat true. There is spark advance added to the main spark advance in PE. There is an air/fuel ratio commanded for the PE fuel.
It's good reading if you haven't seen this document yet.

Jeremy
