Pocket Programmer not working

My pocket programmer is not working. I have been trying to get it to hook up on both XP home and XP pro machines with no luck.
I sthere something Im not doing right. I had it running on 98 a couple of months ago but that was a company laptop that I no longer have. I plug the thing in and when I run the program it says it cannot find the programmer. Is there something special I need to do in XP, Is there a special program for xp, or is my programmer dead.

Are you using the "Windows" version or DOS version?

I had no problems using my Windows Verison. But none of my DOS programs work on XP that use to work on W98SE (or WME).

I've tried both versions with no luck. This is so frustrating, I ve been working on this car for a year now and this is the last step.

Contact Xtronics and tell them. The Windows Version SHOULD work with XP without having to do anything special.

What version are you trying to use?

The motherboard bios configures the parallel port so you need to make sure it's enabled. Go into the device manager and it should be there under ports. If not, the motherboard has it disabled which isn't too uncommon.

Thats an OLD version.. Mine wouldn't work with XP till I went beyond about version 1.4x.

Also, check your parallel port settings in the bios, it should be 'std' or 'bi-directional', not 'enhanced' or 'epp' etc..

As mentioned make sure the parallel port is enabled (mine needs to be on ECP to allow it to work) as well as the programmer is getting power from its AC adapter.

I have used 1.93 and 1.96 with and without SP1 without a problem.

In XP to get to device manager Right click on My Computer (on desktop)--> Properties --> Hardware Tab --> Device Manager --> then it should be under ports.

See attached image.

If it's a "Pocket Programmer", they are still in business. Just go to www.xtronics.com

If your licence is out of date, they will sell you the latest version for a small fee.

If it's not an Xtronics Pocket Programmer, then none of the software will work and your are SOL.

Ok, ... this isn't quite pocket programmer related.. but I am a computer tech at Neobox in the Woodlands (You may have heard of it)..

anyway, you need to get those other drivers installed. The USB should be installed once you get some service packs on your machine. I would deffinitely not reccomend running XP without at the very least SP1. As for the multimedia video controller, do you have a TV tuner of some type installed?

Eric, come see me at Neobox, I can help you out if you have any problems. (Plus I want to know someone around here with a chip programmer )

That screen shot was taken about an hour after a fresh install of the OS, I didn't get around to installing everything for a few days. I have heard of Neobox but have never been in there to look around.
