The differences between tunes (and the benefits of change!)

As an impartial poster, I think some of the folks on this board might benefit from some information on the differences a good tune vs. a better tune can have on performance.

A bit of history, one of the tuners mentioned is a former member of this forum (and has since been banned, the reasons for which are in the past) who actually posted quite a bit of good information (and some not-so-good, apparently). The other also spends a bit of time on these boards and contributes some good information.

Anyway, the moral is this: a good tune is fine, and a *really* good tune can make all the difference in the world!

Interesting info!

From an outsider's point of view, it seems like the first unmentioned tuner has got a pretty good con going there.

I bet I'm not the only guy that's had to "correct" Jesse's tunes by going back to a stock calibration.... . But people will pay anybody these days for computer work. Just look at HP and Compaq with their non-english speaking tech support.

U know, out of respect for the "tuner" I think we could manage to dig up a certain post about knock and post it over there for them to read coulnt we? :-)

Just to certify peoples credentials of course.

Yes, reading that post made me laugh out loud quite hard.

Gee, looks like the guys over there, have hiden the pages.

Golly, one of the loyal Vette Brothern, caught scamming?.

Did anyone notice that of the 40 changes, 2 were the checksum, and ~15 were single hex entries with a difference of *1*.

Gotta like how, in the replies, Mr Chip, dodges answering about how the emissions chip was the same as the other one. And if **just** a mistake, gads, IMO, that's even worse the not doing anything. Since, then it means he's just careless, and I could somehow easily see where running the WRONG chip of any kind could cause problems.

It would also cause me concern about all his other claims based on his expertise.

Well hopefully folks have learned a lession though all this.

Sometimes, it's better to just let people be merry in their own lil worlds, rather then trying to show them the truth.
Besides, those like him eventually fall on their own swords anyway.

I think it's f'n funny. One mail order tuner(PCMsforless) is bashing another(ASSato chips). Sure Jesse know very little about tuning, that's a given. Think about it like this.... On one hand, you have a slightly modded stock bin. On the other, you have a file pulled from a database that's from a similar engine combo(that might have been dyno tuned). It only "requires" minor changes also, just like the slightly warmed over stock ASSato chip. Who is going to get away without blowing something up(over time)?

Mail order tuning is a total SCAM!!!! The other guy has little room to talk. The idea behind tuning is to find out what the engine wants. This is done by testing the vehicle in real world conditions, and not just on the dyno. Monitor and adjust fuel and spark. You can't do that through the mail. Both are guilty of making a quick buck.

Look at me I was in CHP mag I have buckets of money My engine ran 127mph on a stock chip with static injectors, yeah for me

sorry
