Trouble with VE Master
Back when I first started to tune my new engine with a 730 ecm, AutoProm, TunerProRT I would run my logs through VE Master and it would spit out a table that was obviosly off. So I ignored them and tuned the old fashioned way. I got it tuned to 128 BLMs and tried VE Master again. It once again gave me some rediculous tables. It would have 50 in one cell, 90 in the next and 54 in the next. Very Spikey. It would even tune what I had not logged. Is there a fix for this? Or do I need to use Datamaster only?

As far as I've seen or heard, it only works with DM files.
Maybe if you figure out the sequence that DM outputs the data Mark could make the output the same for TP. Don't know but might be something to look into. I like VE master for the under 3K stuff to get close quickly.
Do some checking on the DM files and post on Magnus's site as suggestion. Never know, he might already have something on this.

OK, I went out and got Data Master and logged a 1/2 hour long segment of all sorts of driving. I fed it to VEMaster and VE master only tuned the parts of my table that I did not even log. Can someone please explain to me how to use VE master?

Had some bad experiences like you, ate my cats in one week (made it run too rich).

I have never had a problem with it works great for me every time. I have used it on a few cars now. It makes the tables very smooth for me.
There are a few common mistakes people do with this software that you may be doing.
- You must use datamaster made for the 730
- When you run the program make sure you select the bin file that you were running on your car when you made the data logs. Some people select other bin files so VEmaster has the wrong starting point and messes up the tables
- The input bin file is the file VEmaster outputs to.
- Make sure after VEmaster has made changed to a bin you burn that bin to a chip and run that in your car for the next datalogging session.
- You must run the exact same bin through VEmaster that you data logged with
Some of this may seem obvious but people make these mistakes all the time and they blame it on VEmaster.

I think that I may have figured out the problem. I believe that I was using an older version of VE Master, 1.33 I believe. Used 2.11 and it works now.

I know my way around computers and I've only recently run into a problem with VE Master. Just the other day my buddy wanted to do some tuning and he was getting impatient with how adjusting the VE tables by hand takes. (His pcm can be either MAF or SD, $EE). In anycase he asks me if there is a program and I remembered VE Master from when we were tuning his truck with a 730. Needless to say I find the latest VE Master version that supports the $EE mask and it doesn't work right.
I've tried multiple scans from TTS's DM and none are working. I think there is a bug in this version that I've got. It's v1.33 for the $EE and v2.11 for the $8D_$DA2_$DA3. No biggy to me but my friend was getting impatient and we were both tired.

I've used VEMaster with my 1227730 $8d and DataMaster, and my experience is VEMaster works pretty good. It only adjusts those VE/RPM/KPa cells that are logged with datamaster. Yup, you do have to be careful to feed it the correct BIN currently running that generated the data log, otherwise it's garbage-in, garbage-out (GIGO). You do have to set the target BLM to 128, for some reason the default is 124. It gets it pretty darn close, to where I'm toggling between 126 and 130 for successive datalog runs, that's probably the only noticable mention. I've only used it for baseline runs, i.e. not WOT runs, like "driving home from work".

I have used it on a few $8d apps and I was amazed at it lol.
Sweet time save for getting the fuel table to 12-128 range.
I do prefer being able to check it with the wideband though :-)
I've only used it for $8d stuff, but no complaints thus far.
Only keep in mind what 89 Iroc mentioned.
Use the same file to develop forward and run thru VEmaster, screws up real fast if u try feeding it different bins.
