ZZ3/ZZ4 guys.... what chip do you use???

I have an 89 IROC-Z with the L98 in it right now. I own a ZZ3 on the side, and I am considering dropping the ZZ3 in my car again. Now, what chip do you use? Do you need a custom burned chip, or will a performance resource chip do the trick?

Let me know.
Thanks

I think the stock chip will work fine, or the PR chip. I'm using a stock 305 5-speed chip in my 350 engine with ZZ4 cam and heads. The ZZ4 cam has a mild enough intake duration that the computer can handle it.

Kevin,

I am not flaming by any means.... but wouldn't common knowledge tell you that if you are running 13.25 in the 1/4 with a stock 305 chip in your modded 350, you would probly do even better than that with a stock 350 chip, PR chip, hypertech chip, etc?????

Because they dont make a stock 350 5-speed chip, so I'm stuck with the 305 5-speed chip.

And I shouldnt call it stock, because its a custom burn from Turbo City. But the closed loop values are stock. The only thing changed is the WOT fuel and timing tables. We've been experimenting with it over the last 6 months trying to get the chip dialed in at WOT. I think we finally got it, but I havent had a chance to make any good runs at the track.

Kev,

Check to to see how much knock retard you get. The ESC filter (knock module) on the CalPak is different for 305s as compared to 350s (730 ECM).

BTW - You can convert a 350 auto chip to a 350 manual. I have heard of a couple guys who have done it. I can try to find out the destructions on how to do it if you are interested ... or, you could post to gmecm.

Gunning for NA 11's with the MiniRam II and Hooker LT Headers.

According to Diacom I get 0 to 1 degree of knock retard after adding in NOS Octane Booster, at a total of 35º advance. My next thought would be to change the value in the chip from 305 to 350 and see what happens. The only reason we didnt was because the fuel tables were almost dead on when we started, and only the timing had to be changed.

Kevin,

I completely did not think of that... (that=no such thing as a 350-5speed stock combo).
