Just finished Miniramed 383, stock computer, dont want to spend $575 for thier prom

I just finished a full out built l98 for my 85 corvette. It consists of 383, 9:1, AFR 195 Stage 3 ported alum heads, TPIS Miniram, bbk 58 mm throttle body, hooker 1 3/4 long tubes, 3 inch exhaust, full race 700r4, 1.6 rockers, .530/.530 hydralic cam. I have the stock computer in the car and havent started the motor yet. My problem is that i REFUSE to spend almost 600 dollars through tpis for their miniram prom. What are my other options? What if i dont get a chip etc....

85' Vette - 600 horspower daily driver. 383 Stroker, TPIS Miniram, AFR 195 Stage 3 Alum Heads, 58MM BBK Throttlebody, Full race 700R4 with 3000 Stall converter, 1.6 rockers, Corbeau Race Seats,Compucam .530/.530 Cam,
-Saleen Mustang 5.0, A4 blocked, TFS Twisted wedge heads, TFS-R Intake, Tremec TKO, 200 HP NOS Kit. 600 dynoed horsepower

hi wayquick
What injectors are you running. if they are the stock bosch 24(only in 85 they are 24lb) you can start your car.
The alternative is to start programming your own. The 7730 ecm is the way togo over the 85 (870 ecm)I have a couple 85 bins from my 383 miniram setup but you have to get the programmer,eraser,etc...
I will admit 500 for a 85chip is way off. the 85 chip is very generic but it gets the job done.
you have a extra hash mark in your sig for your pic. remove it and it should work. I tried the link no problem.

Another option would be to contact Ed Wright at Fastchips. He has a very good reputation for his calibrations. Download the chip application from his website and send it in. He quoted me $350 for my 383 TPI motor. Much cheaper than TPIS!!!

You cant put images in your signature. So that link wont work. But you can change it to {a href="http://www.corvetteforum.net/c4/wayquick4u/myvette.jpg"}My Corvette{/a} and it'll work. Just replace the { } with < >

I second the notion that the 85 computer stinks... Upgrade to the 89 MAF or 90-91 Speed Density system when you have the funds. Its well worth it.

Does your car happen to be blue with a white stripe down the center? I have seen a few Vettes running at Famosa, maybe one of which has been you. I live in Paso Robles and run at Famosa every now and then, maybe we could meet up sometime...

Find someone that can burn an eprom for you and Dennis or I will send you a couple of 85 bins that will get you down the road.
Diacom will also be a must if your looking for getting your drivability perfect.
Also, the 7730 Speed Density is a great option. Street and Performance @
501-394-5711 have a harness which will convert your OEM harness to match up with the a new 7730. The 7730 can be picked up from a junk yard around $50.00

Good luck
regards
John
