Need help getting a chip burned for less than 200 bucks, new miniram 383 runs badly

I just finished getting my 85 vette running with its new setup. It went from bone stock to a 9.6:1, 383, AFR 195CC Stage 3 ported alum heads, TPIS Miniram, 58MM T.B, 1 3/4 hooker long tubes, 1.6 rockers, 230/234-.530 actual lift hydralic flat tappet cam, built 700r4, 3.07 gears (im keeping these). I broke in the cam on the car with 19 lb injectors. the car came stock with 24 lb injectors (only 85 vettes came with this). I cannot get the car to run worth a crap with this setup. If i turn the fuel press up it blows black smoke at idle but will rev up. If i turn it down somewhat the car runs better at idle, no black smoke but it cuts out badly when you smack the gas (like no fuel). I cannot afford the 500 dollar chips of www.fasterproms.com from jim formata. Any ideas on how i get a custom chip for under 200 that will make the car run like a dream?
any ideas please email me at aidan130@hotmail.com or reply

You can try Ed Wright. I think he charges 150 for a custom chip.

Sorry to break the bad news to you but JIM FORMATO passed awaay. It will be 1 yr on Feb 6th. His wife and son still do chips though,
Here is the # (813)253-0961

I lived down the road from him in Tampa. He is the one who helped me with my chip and tuning of the Z.
he has one bad *** vette let me tell you.

Great Guy, great work. Will be missed thats for sure. He also did work for TPIS befor they started doing there own chips.

I think performance resource sells their custom chips for $250. Ed Wright is $350.

For all the money you will end up spending, why not get into prom burning? In the long run, it is the cheapest alternative and you can do SO MUCH MORE!

im very interested in prom burning but when you all start talking "pump shots" and all the technical stuff, how do you learn how everything works and what does what?

I know you said LESS than $200 but go with Ed Wright if you buy a custom chip as opposed to burning!! Ed will work with the chip to make it run right for you if it doesn't when you first get the thing! B'sides...his company was the winner of the '97 custom chip "shoot out"....it can't be all that bad! Check it out ----> http://www.fastchip.com

------------------
1986 Trans AM
305 TPI
4 Wheel Discs
9 bolt Borg Warner Rear
Completely Stock
Soon to upgrade to a 383 stroker w/TPI, Hedman Shorty Headers, 64cc Pocket Ported Worlds Product Sportsman-II heads, ported intake, comp cam, TPI air foil, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, possibly bigger injectors!
Current project: Keeping my car running until I get the money for the above mentioned project! :-)

In a nut shell you experiment.
You don't have to start with knowing everything. I've been at this for years and still learning. Think of it as an evolving learning process. once you start getting close then you'll want to split hairs, and get picky about things.
Like walking just get the basics down first, try a lil timing then move the fuel around, once you get the basic timing and fuel right then worry about the finer points.
