85 vette and camaro ECM/Chips diff??

I baught a 350 chip for an 85 vette auto to put in my 85 auto camaro, both TPI cars. I'm running a 355 in the Z28, and I thaught that a stock Vette Prom would work (in replacement of my 305 stage2 chip) but it doesn't. The car fires up, idels bad, and the check engine light stays on. I try to pull the codes out but the check engine light just stays on, won't flash at all. Put back the 305 chip, everything runs fine, ECM check out ok (code 12), try the GM350, same thing as before! What gives? what's the difference? both cars ECM have the same GM part #. I don't get it! bad prom? (the way they pack those things....wouldn't surprise me!) or is it just not interchangeable??

Thanks

Hmmm...

When was the last time that you used the Vette chip? To my knowledge the vette chip should work AOK in your camaro.

Well that's just it, I baught it 2 days ago from GM, when I got the Z28, it had the hypertech stage2 305 in it. As soon as I baught the GM one, I put it in, and it didn't work properly. So what gives? bad chip? I think that's what it is, but GM won't give me an other one, or get my $ back, well until I talk to the manager on monday, if I find its the chip, his a$$ is gonna be mind, and I'm prepared, I got 20 pages of literature with part # and all, so he won't be able to say "oh but you have a camaro ECM..." nop sir, they ALL have the same GM part #, Y or F, doesn't matter...
Could it be that little box behind the ECM? maybe it has to match 350 chip!?

thanks

Hmmm. IO am interested in thios one as well, The 85 vette, camaro 870 should all be the same. Those 4K chips are so basic as well.
What is the BCC code?? do you have acces to a programmer to read the chip. Those chips are just popped in thier socket. You push up on the chip and the chip legs should pop in to release. I have a few 85 bins, stock and modded.

You may be running rich enough to be beyond the fuel mapping capabilities. The 85 vette ran a fuel pressure of 35lbs instead of 43.5 like later models. The 85 TPI 305 ran 43.5 pounds, so you may be very rich.

By the way, some early TPI Corvettes had 24 lb. injectors. That might cause some problems.

You could confirm this at www.corvetteforum.com

p.s. The "box" on the ECM is the burn-off module

Yes the 85 vetts did come with 24lb bosch injectors.
What did the 305 85 camaro come with 19lb.
I have worked with some 85 tuning but the injector rating on every bin I have seen are all 15 to 15.5. not 19 or 24 like the 86up style programming.
Right when I purchased the gmepro I did one or two chips then swapped over to the 7730 ecm and never looked back.

Im pretty shure that the chips arent iterchangable, I looked into it for my car and I think it was TPIS that told me they cant be changed?

There are wiring differences. When wired as a vette the vette software works fine.

GM has some gotchas in things, like reversing IAC wiring, A/C inputs, VSS stuff, ECM stuff involves hardware and software
