INFL

my 92 25th anneversiary camaro died on me and i finally figured out that all i need is a new alternator...but i have no idea what the "INFL reset" light on the panel next to the "service engine soon" light is. can anyone help me?

Airbag, I believe... should flash a few times (self-test) and then go out.

ya i figured it was something like that but when the self-test is over it is still there...i was figuring maybe the sensor or something isnt getting enough power to fully test it and just keeps it lit but i dunno.

You might want to have that investigated... I don't have my book handy and don't know a whole lot about that stuff, but I think if the light stays on, it indicates a fault in the system somewhere...

Its actually INFL REST and it means inflation restraint system, or your airbag. Like Thunderstick said, if the light stays on all the time, you have a problem with your airbag that needs to be looked at. Unfortunately, thats not something you can do in your driveway. I think it requires special tools and knowledge.

The airbag probably set a code for low voltage. If you had ABS, the ABS light would have come on also. INFL and ABS are safety features, but can be dangerous if not working properly, so they are designed to shut off if the proper voltage is not recieved, to prevent the computers from making bad decisions, or not being able to carry the decisions out.
