Low Voltage
Ok i just got a new alternator and battery 4 months ago i have a 140 AMP alt on it insted of the 105 AMP. I have a 91 V-6. basicly when im at stoplights my volts go down some turn on the blinker and wacth it go down to 12 volts and i thoguth my ams were drainign the poer so i trned everything off and it still went down low. Start to drive again volts go back up to 14. any ideas why my volts go soo low at idle?

What are the engine RPMs? Also do you have underdrive pulleys, or is the cooling fan(s) running?
Reason why I ask about the underdrive crankshaft pulley is that it will lower the alternator RPMs. Engine should be idling at 550-900 RPM for auto tranny, anything lower than 500 will affect the alternator output.

I have the same problem in my 86 TA...same symptoms....when stopped or idiling, the voltage is low..idle is about 1000 or just under...no underdrive pulleys...sometimes, cooling fans are on, but not always...its an atuo tranny. Same thing...slow blinkers, etc...and when i start to move again, the voltage goes back up and everything seems pretty much ok. I had replaced the battery, the plugs are bosch platinums, and a new distributor cap. The only other thing i can think of is the alternator...i havent looked at that yet. If anyone has any additional info/possible solutions, please post here.

I think part of the problem is my under sized crank pully. I got a 140 amp alt and it died a few months ago so i went and just got a autozone one and havent had a ny problems but my voltage is still low at idle but with my system and everything elese runnig i havent had any problems. Just make sure you have a good battary i got a red top and havent had any problems. I just wish i could speed up my blinker i got a new relay for it but it still blinks once every 15 seconds. How do the ricers get there to blink soo fast? I figure if i pu tone of those in mine should blink like a normal car.

are you running a 552 blinker? if not what number the lower the the number the quicker it will blink under the same load of a larger one.
