Useing A/c switch to turn on fan...

Ok, my a/c compressor shot craps (the clutch was toast to begin with) so i took it out and replaced it with a pully. I have been useing the a/c selections on the heating/cooling controls to turn on the cooling fan in a somewhat manual fashion. Is this going to cause something to burn out or is it fine and saveing me the effort of wireing a manual fan switch for myself.

what happened to yours when it burnt up? lately when i turn off my a/c smoke will come out of the vents or out of the part with the 2 switches (the switches that you slide from left to right). i have also been using my a/c at the track to cool my car down. i unplug it and just have the fan running all day. i wonder if that is what is making it smoke and go bad.

Well when i found out the clutch was bad it would smoke with the a/c on (the previouse owner had drained the system so we filled it). The bearing in my compressor went out so it was starting to make alot of noise and a rather foul stench. Never had anything come into the cab though. You may not want to drive that car if its doing that and find what it is.
