left front signals not working - read the archives - still confused

ok, its very simple, the left front and side flashers dont work. BUT sometimes they do, if the lights are off and teh driving lights are on. but when the driving lights are on, they'll only flash as bright as the driving lights. but if i turn the lights on, they wont flash at all, and the arrow in the guage cluster stays on. its really confusing, i think it might be my light switch. any ideas?

I had a problem very similar. Turning signal wouldnt flash outside my car and light on panel stayed on when headlights were on. I went to my local NAPA store and bought a replacement bulb for about 2 bucks, put it in myself and my blinker works perfect now. Because it is the front and side flasher you may need 2 light bulbs, not sure though. The bulbs have two filements. If the parking lights work but wont flash it is because one of the filements is burnt out. Replace the bulb and it should work fine. Good luck.

i noticed that when the lights are off, everything works fine, but when the lights are on, the left blinker blinks slower than it does with the lights off. and it still flashes with the low filiment instead of the bright one. and when the lights are on the dummy light come on in the dash, but when the lights are off, everything there is good as well...

Try getting new flashers, one for hazards and one for the turn signals. I just fixed that problem today with 2 522 flashers. They're like $3 each. Good luck.

If the other turn signal works its not your flasher. I had the same problem with my right turn signal with all the same symptoms (wouldn't flash intermitently, the signal was very dim and the dash indicator would always be dimly illuminated when headlights were on). I replaced the flasher and a couple of bulbs but the problem didn't go away. Turned out to be a bad ground. Funny because when i determined it to be faulty wiring and went to fix it, i got mad because it was impossible to find anything among all those wires under the hood and proceeded to slam my fist on the fender well in frustration. When i did that i saw something spark and sure enough it was a lose ground wire that was causing it(I had the parking lights on during the fix).

Had the same problem to a T. Tried bulbs all the way around, flashers, cleaning grounds, ect. Turned out to be the switch itself for me. Mine worked with no lights on, but with headlights on nothing, parking lights it would barely blink, same as yours right? Wasn't hard to change, if you have a steering wheel puller and a compressor for the column spring. It's possible to do without the compressor, but a PITA. Also the left light would just hold steady like a brake light when I turned on the blinker. Hope this helps.

Wait I just reread your original post, my bad. Have you checked your rear blinker on that side?

well, it warmed up abit so i thought id get on top of this problem again. i fially found the other flasher. it was up behind that little box that has the hazard flasher. well i figured i had it beat, i poped in a new flasher went to test it out and the f*ing thing still doesnt work. the hazards work 100% with the lights on and the lights off. the turn signals work good with the lights off, but turn them on and than the arrows in the dash light up ( both different brightness ) and the left front wont flash. everything else will. when i turn on the lights, i can hear them slow down, but that might just be from the current draw. now im really stuck
