Turn Signal problem
Turn Signal problem
Well when i first got my car my friend threw change in my "ash tray", but there is no ash tray there. So the change made its when down into the center console. I thought I got all of the change out, but i guess there was a piece left. So the other day i plug in my cell phone cigarette lighter adapter and BOOM. Sparks fly, interior lights out, and no blinkers. I replaced the interior fuse, but i dont see any other fuses that are out. The Right blinker works, but the left does not. The left arrow is always on now whenever the lights are on (arrow on dash). Also the left orange light on the bottom of the car is not working either, however the right does. So where do I find/fix the part to control the left side blinkers and lights?

What does change in the "ash tray" have to do with wiring...
check all the lights on the outside to make sure they work.....
If they do, it may be your flasher unit.....Any AutoZone store should carry a replacement.....
Do they both flash when you turn no the hazzards???

I think what he is saying is that his friend threw some change into the ashtry which is connected to the cigarrette lighter. Their is also a small hole in the ashtray in which change can fall under the console. Anyway some changed must have missed the ashtray and hit the Cigarette lighter and when he plugged his charger in it made the 2 metals touch and shorted out something. I did the same thing when I first bought my car. I threw change in there and it hit the cigarette lighter and then nothing in my would work. Ended up being a fuse.
well, you could swap bulbs from the left and right sides to make sure they work, and maybe get new flasher units (hazzard and turn flashers are separate, but if you had a short, you could've just blown both). but really, you might have a wiring problem, and might need to test the voltages in the circuits for the different situations and compare L/R to see what's different.
test:
Lights OFF, left turn
Lights OFF, right turn
Lights OFF, hazzard
Lights ON, left turn
Lights ON, right turn
Lights ON, hazzard
Lights OFF, brakes
Lights ON, brakes
and maybe brakes + turn...

My car has the same problem. Execpt it's my right side. I know what it is. It's my light bulb. My car got broken into and busted my steering column, blinkers were staying on all the time, so I took out the bulbs, thats when the arrow stayed light up.

Flashers
Most common problem with the F-body steering column (or for that matter any GM tilt steering column) is fatigued wiring leading to the flasher/combination switch located just behind the steering wheel.
Put your left flasher on (with the key on of course) then proceed to slowly move your tilt wheel up and down and see if your flasher starts or stops to work. If it intermittently works then you should have found the problem. That is one easy way to determine if you need a new *combination switch assembly (switches flashers and hazards and comes complete with a new wire harness) unless the wires are completely broken, then you'll have no flashers at all.
A dim light is typically either light leaking into the flasher area from another dash light bulb
or
a voltage leak in that circuit keeping the bulb on.
Check for bad dash or rear wiring harness grounds as well.
Hope that helps you out.
