Checking wires with mulitmeter??

I've been blowing my GAGE fuse and I suspect that the culprits are the red wires that come from the stater. Where do these wires go to? I see that they go through a little black tube which is where I think they've shorted. How can I test those wires with a multimeter to see if they are good or bad which is causing my fuse to blow?

Try checking resistance to ground with your meter. Take the fuse out and check the resistance of the "guage" circuit to a ground point. It should be low (because there's bulbs hooked up to it) but not 0. If it is, then the wires you suspect are probably bad.
