what should oil pressure be?

talking a 91 firebird, 3.1, auto, about 150,000 miles.

i just replaced the oil pressure sending unit (haha should have done it a LONG time ago)...so now i finally have an oil pressure guage that reads correctly (i assume) , and i was just wondering what the pressure range should be on a car like mine? what pressure is good, normal, bad, etc. cold, warm??

thanks,
evan

when cold it should be reading high (cold oil)!!

when fully warm should be reading in the middle or close to it, while cruising.

idle fully warm alittle under the middle is fine.

it should be responsive when revving and getting on the gas and go up and down accordingly.

sending unit/sender (older models use separate units, while newer 91-92 use one combo piece) was about 20 bucks.

well when mine went out first the oil pressure would read really low basiclly at 0 at idle and like 15 when cold, and at wot. then it just stopped working, got scared i figured i had no more pressure lol but it was just that cost me like 60 bucks to fix at a shop.

my guage would look fine sometimes, then sometimes it would work at all, and most of the time, the needle would be all over the place. and it leaked oil at teh sensor. that's how i knew. fix it yourself, its 20 bucks.
