Stock Fog Lamp Relay?
Is there a fog lamp relay included stock on a 1990 v6 bird? I finally got around to putting in some new bulbs, the 100watt sylvanias, and I'm worried about the wiring. I do know that when I turn on the fog lamps I hear a click outside, but maybe its a relay thats part of the parking lamps?
Maybe I should just go back to some 55watts.
Thanks,
Steve

will this stock relay allow me to run the 100watt bulbs without worrying about a dash fire? or can there be a problem elsewhere... I have ran the bulbs for several minutes and felt the wires at the foglight connection... seemed cool to me...

the lenses are glass, but you are talking about the mount for the lense, and the plastic retainer that holds the reflector and bulb? I guess I'll try that today and see how hot that gets. I just always hear people who are afraid of a dash fire because of the wiring, but if there is a relay then it seems like the wiring should be fine. Are most people worried because they put on aftermarket fog lamps?

He he, my bad
I thought you were just replacing bulbs on your factory fog lamps. I think I just need a new bulb on my factory fog lamps.
Good luck gettin rid of the wiring grimlins.

eh I'll probably just run some thicker guage wire to the fogs, and use the original wires to trip some new relays (because I can't seem to find out how much wattage the original setup can take) I also don't feel like finding out the hard way.
the only thing I can think of that would melt with the 100watt bulbs is the rubber weatherstripping that goes between the lense and the metal casing... There are also plastic brackets that hold the lense on the casing... I bet I could make some out of metal though.
The only reason I want to do this is I literally CANNOT see any difference between my lights with the fogs on or off from the driver seat... I can only tell if I'm parked right up against a wall or something... I guess they are mainly just for looks? They sure as hell don't do anything for fog!!
Also it doesn't matter if I used the stock bulbs or not, its like our lenses don't reflact the light properly---as I've seen some tiny little pilot fog light systems on peoples cars as aftermarket add-ons... and they are bright as hell... you can almost drive without headlights...
