DLC pins

Ok, so I'm trying to read the trouble codes off my camaro, but as far as I can see, only five of the twelve slots actually have any metal to connect my paperclip to inside them. pins 5 and 6 are there, but the whole bottom row is gone and I'm not getting a reading on 5 and 6 . Am I screwed?

in your info, your car is a 305 carbed CC qjet, i dont think that your car has a ECM in it, and the computer that controls the carb doesnt hook into the DLC port

Hmmm, that would make sense, but I'm pretty sure it has an ECM....

Yes, it has an ECM, unless someone removed it.

The bottom row of pins aren't used (blank). The pins you want to jumper are the top RH most 2.

Ok. That scares me. I've been poking around and I haven't been able to find the ECM. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but considering the state of the car, I wouldn't be suprised if there was none. If there were no ECM, what would be the symptoms? Would the car even run? If so, wouldn't the carb be completely inefficent, since it would "know" how much air/fuel to allow? Please enlighten me.

Good question, I'm not sure if it would run without an ECM but I think it would, just run like total crap.
Have you dropped the pass side kick pnl and looked up under there for the ECM?

yeah, i took that off and poked around under there. Problem is I'm not sure exactly what it looks like. There's some pictures in the Haynes manual, but they aren't very helpful. (also, I wouldn't recommend the Haynes manual to anyone, it doesn't even have any info on quadrajets!) I didn't see anything that looked remotely like it under there, but then again, I'm not sure how well hidden it is. Any insight?

Ok, problem solved. I was looking on the driver's side of the car, it was on the passengers side. Whoops. And the reason it wasn't working was that its fuse was blown. Whoops again. Oh well.
