Grounds and fusible links come to mind. maybe a good battery connected. One ground goes to many systems.

carlover, not to jack your thread, but how did 4you hook up your alternator. I am trying to switch my 87 mpfi2.8 to older carbd v8, and am trying to figure out how to out the old style alternator in. were you able to retain the original alternator?

no i wasnt able to...but if u want u can get a new pulley for it but that will be more expensive than getting a re-man alternater from autozone with the pulley u need. the alternater was like 25 bux. thats wut i did .. also u will need a new set of alternater brackets for ur 350. mine are chrome that i got from autozone for like 10 bux.

It would be the items in this picture with the number 13 (X marks the spot). They have large terminal lugs and go on the large post on the starter solenoid with the battery cable. The purple wire with the small terminal lug goes on the small post marked "S" on the solenoid.

Can you be a little more specific about the areas that don't have power. And it would help you to check your fusible links, that could be the major cause for your lack of power to these areas.

well ill tell u how i tested it...first i tested my battery to see if i had power, and i do. then i went to my starter and tested those 2 wires, i do. then i went to my fusible link right next to the battery, power. then i tested all the wires on the passenger side of the motor and those all had power. then i went to the other side of the motor almost in the middle of the harness, NO power. so i checked all my grounds, good.

the only thing i forgot to check was my fuses. and ill check those tomm.

are there any more fusible links that i missed?

can anyone give me some diagrams of the harness

Nope. just getting all the diagrams together and juggling the wifes honey-do list at the same time. BTW, there should be about three fusible links at the starter solenoid along with the battery cable and the purple wire with the small terminal lug.

Okay,

When I first read this post, I guess I missed the part about V6 mpfi wiring. When you changed to the V8 350 carbed engine, did you swap wire harnesses and computer chips. Or are you still using the original wire harness and computer for the V6, if you are that is the biggest part of your problem. As for the little terminal, there is only one wire that goes to it and it should be purple and the terminal post should be marked "S"..
