Make sure your getting vacuum to the unit. Also check to make sure your getting power to the solenoids that control the vacuum.

i pulled off the vacume hoses that go to the cruise control and blew in them to check for leaks. the hoses look new and were still stretchy and with the car running and me spraying the hoses the car didnt stumble so i think they are good.

ill take them all off and check to see if they are clogged on the weekend

check the vacuum hose connection and the electrical connection at the brake pedel switch, if the vacuum hose is not connected it will not work at all.

I think this might be my problem. Where are the solenoids that control vacuum located? My car is a LO3 (TBI) 305 90RS.

Thanks!

There is a switch on the brake pedal and a cruise control module mounted behind the dash on the passenger side. BTW, there is also a wire harness that comes down the steering coulmn from the multifunction lever that is for the cruise control and there is also a wire bundle under the dash that goes through the bulkhead for the cruise control. Here is a picture of the multifunction lever harness and the one that goes through the bulkhead.

Heavy Foot and No Cruise Control...

Thanks Trickster,

I believe my problem is Vacuum related as I lost both my Cruise Control and HVAC control at the same time.

At idle I can watch my Tach surging up and down about 300 rpm. The duration of the surge from low point to high point to low point is about three seconds... The Heater will sometimes switch over to warm air and sometimes not. The air routing doors will sometimes move and sometimes not...

I am wondering if it is a cracked vacuum resevoir? There is an electrical device that aparently connects to Vacuum (one of the hard plastic hoses) mounted on the firewall up very high and slightly ofset from the vehicle centerline toward the passenger side. I have not yet identified that device... Does anyone know what it is?

If you think that you might have a vaccum problem then you might want to look at these pictures. Also that electrical device with the hard vaccum tubing might be your EGR solenoid. I can't tell without seeing it.:lala: BTW, in this picture where you see #2 is a cap, that is supposed to be the vaccum line that goes to the HVAC control unit in the dash.

Holy crap Bob! Do you happen to have an exploded diagram of the rod that control accessories off the key inside the steering column?

(sorry for off topic -- I've been looking for that diagram for a spell).

Are you by chance referring to this diagram?

Trickster,

Trickster,

Thanks for all the diagrams and information. I hope to get something done this weekend.

I thought about for testing purposes plugging one leg of the tee off near the Vacuum Brake and supplying the Crusie and then the HVAC from the vacuum fitting that used to power the Thermac valve... That might isolate the problem...

I think I have an Extra Power Orb laying around. I might install that and see if it makes a differnece...
