Everything dead in 1988 TBI 305

Alright, i'll make it short and simple. I put in the key, turn it and absolutely nothing happens, no lights sounds, no electricity what so ever. The battery is good and charged, and none of the fuses are blown. Does anyone know what might be the problem, or at least narrow it down a bit for me.

Thanks!

It sounds like you need to check your fusible links down at the starter solenoid if you have no power at all. Just a thought!!!!!!!!!!

Are you getting power inside the car at all? Do your headligts, hazzard lights, courtesy lights work? These things work independently of the key.

Okay, start looking at the fusible links at the starter solenoid. Also at your battery connection there. .....I think I already mentioned that..... oh well. Still sounds like a good place to start looking.

my 92 tbi 305 did that twice. first time it was the fusable links and the second it was the starter. both times it did it the power windows were down. once in my driveway and once in my buddies driveway.

Do you happen to have an aftermarket air cleaner on that car? I had the same problem that you do. It turned out the air cleaner base was rubbing aginst the coil wires. NOT GOOD. Find out what caused the short before you replace the fusable links.
