relocating battery to trunk....

alright i need to clean up my engine bay so that i can have room for the twin turbo system and i want to relocate my battery to my trunk. i want it to be NHRA legal also and i know i need a sealed vented container and i have one with an Optima battery. what i want to know is how to go about wiring everything? wire guages to uses, where do i buy the kill switch? how to wire it all up? what do i need and where can i buy it all?

question on the kill switch: if i was to turn it off would i loose my ECM Tuning? i will be installing an Accel DFI system along with the new engine.

I don't know about GM's, but....

Mopar Performance sells trunk relocation kits. Probably overpriced, but you might want to take a look at whta they include for ideas about how to run your relocation project.

Check out the Summit catalog for battery boxes, kill switches, wiring kits etc. I'd run 2 gauge or bigger for the starter and ground wiring, and try to run the ground to the subframe rail if possible (sheetmetal is thicker there which means better continuity.)

I don't know about the Accel system, but with a GM computer the memory is non-volatile (so you won't lose it if you unhook the battery.) I'd expect Accel to be the same.

alright just bought everything and now i need some info...tried searching but got nothin.

what are the NHRA rules to the location of the kill switch? i am not as lucky as T/A owners and cant mount it next to where the trunk keyhole is and i do not want to cut anything in my taillights as i have a pair of blackouts.

I haven't messured, but will the optima batt fit where the spare/jack is located? I'm hoping to do the same thing. Post some pics.

I just mounted my battery in the bottom of the storage area. Out of sight, out of mind.

if you use an optima, or any other sealed/gel batt, it does not need to be in a sealed box, correct? Couldnt you just use some type of a hold down bracket?
thanks,
Adam
