Taillights not working

I have a 91 RS with 305 TBI. The taillights do not come on when the headlights are turned on. My dome light and gauge lights do not work either. I have checked and my brake lights, turn signals and backup lights work. I have checked all fuses and bulbs. I would appreciate any help with this matter that someone can give me.

Does the dome light come on when you open the door? The "TAIL" fuse controls the guage lights through the "INST LMPS" fuse. Do your parking and marker lights work, how about the license light?

The only thing that works with the headlight switch in the on position is the headlights. I know all the bulbs are good and I have checked all the fuses. Is something possibly wired wrong? Or is there another fuse that is not located in the actual fuse box? And the domelight does not come on at all. I replaced the bulb and once again I checked the fuses.

Drop the fuse panel down and check the wiring there for the "TAIL" fuse and check the wiring for the dome light since it is on a different fuse circuit unless you are having a problem with other items that are on the "ACC" fuse circuit that you haven't mentioned or are not aware of yet. How about the courtesy lights under the dash that come on when you open the door or the cigarette light? You might have to pull the headlight switch and check it and its wiring.

The courtesy lights and the cigarette lighter do not work as well but would that affect the taillights as well? At any rate I would like to get all of them in working order.

Well like I mentioned earlier, drop the fuse panel and check the wiring there since you don't have any blown fuses. The "ACC" fuse and the "TAIL" fuse are linked together in the fuse panel itself. Has anyone, either yourself or a previous owner, done any hack wiring under the dash. Have you checked all your grounds? Has this problem just shown up or has it been there for awhile?

Lights all work now. I checked the fuses one last time and 2 were blown(tail and accesories). I discovered the problem after spending all day putting in new carpets and seats. Perhaps the few days away from it reduced my anxiety and cleared my head. Thanks for the help.
