Trickster, I need your infinite wisdom!!!

Ok, my 88 camaro was a V6 before I put the V8 in it, so it has all the original V6 wiring. I am trying to get all of the wiring routed and fixed before I go any further wth it. My first qeustion is this. At the starter, I have the purple wire connected as well as the main positive battery terminal. There were 2 additional wires, and each wire has a fusible link that were connected into 1 ring lug terminal that bolts to the starter. One of the wires is cut, and the other wire travels up into the wiring harness that comes out of the driver's side firewall right next to the brake booster. Do you know what each of these wires are for? I assume 1 of them goes to the fuse panel??? Not sure about the other. Any help/info/diagrams would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help, Paul Moore

This should explain better than me typing out a long explanation.

Awesome, where do you get these diagrams? I have a Haynes manual for 82-92 camaro/firebird, and it has nowhere the amount of information and detail.

These are from the GM service manual for your car. Beats Haynes and Chilton hands down any day.

I am still confused The diagrams you gave were great but I am still unsure of something. I double checked my wiring at the starter. There are 2 fusible links, and 3 wires. They appear to be heavy(12ga??) red wires. I went in the car and pulled down the fuse panel, and didn't see any feed wires to the fuse box. I can see where the wiring harness comes in under the dash. I followed the harness past the fuse box, and then it goes behind the dash where the instrument cluster would go. I don't mean to be bothersome, I am just not very good with wiring yet.

look at the second picture, you will see a little break there in the top wire, it says C100 "A4". This is the firewall connector on the drivers side under the dash. "A4" is the pin location in this connector that the red wire goes into from the engine bay. From there it splits off and goes to the ignition switch on the steering column under the dash and the fuse panel for the "LID" fuse and the "PWR ACC" circuit breaker. There are actually three fusible links at the starter solenoid.

Ok, well there is only 2 fusible links there now from when I was younger and rushed into the project. I dropped the steering column, and found 2 heavy red wires that go to a box on the top of the steering column. I assume those are for what you mentioned, ignition switch and LID. Basically, I want to make sure that my headlights, wipers, horn, brake/taillihgts work so I can drive on the street. I am just very worried becasue of that 1 wire that is cut, and the other fusible link that I am missing. The only good thing that I can think of is the fact that there are only 2 red heavy wires going into the driver's side harness, and both of those wires are connected to the starter at this time. So if that 3rd red wire doesn't go into the passenger compartment, I think I stand a good chance that all my stuff will work.
