Get a Big hammer and hit it... lol And at the same time pry it with a screwdriver. Mine was all rotted together. Seriously though, there is a clip on each side of it. BTW, You need to get at it from the outside.
PS: Be carefull! Those are your computer wires in there.

well i have the harness loose from the sheetmetal but the tricky part im having is seperating the two pieces. so just raise the two clips on the sides and it should come apart? it looks like there is some sort of silicon or something that has dried up and glued it together too...

From everything that I have read, it doesn't come apart inside the engine compartment, the ECM harness from the passenger side is also part of the C100 as well.

I have taken out this connector a long time ago. I used painless wiring so... What did you all do to "plug" up that square hole?

I managed to pull mine through the fender into the engine compartment. As for sealing up the hole I used a piece of sheetmetal, applied RTV sealant around the edges to form a seal and drilled four holes, one in each corner and rivetted it over the hole. That big connector thing just takes some wiggling and tugging but it'll come through

then pull out the clips and shove/pry/pull the plug outside of the car into the fender area, and feed it back into the engine bay.
unhook everythign in the engine bay, and the harness comes out.
Did you LS1 guys completely remove this harness? I did, seems like all the wires the car needs are on the drivers side harness. I am using the painless EFI LS1 standalone harness so correct me if I need to keep that ECM harness for any reason, thanks

some examples off the top of my head would be ECM power (for the PCM), and injector power.
Thanks, the two connectors that run under the dash to the ECM hold the ECM power wires correct? Wish I could get a picture and show ya'll, anyway, there are two sets of wires that connect to the ECM harness from under the dash, both run back torward the fuse panel and instrument cluster. I take it they have the wires I need? The harness that runs into the engine bay from the ECM is emmisions and engine management wiring which is not needed?
Let me do some research and get some pictures for you guys, I don't mean to confuse anyone with my questons!

another thing, this was a LG4 carbed 305, 1987 model, so it would be a little different than the EFI cars wouldn't it? I noticed the ignition runs off the wires on the drivers side, as does the temp sensor, tach pickup and starter wires. The only wiring I see neccessary would be as you said, the ECM power wires and the oil pressure wiring which runs through the computer to the dash. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but the ECM has constant power from the fuse panel? Seems like I could trace the wiring from the ECM fuse to the connector which plugged into the Engine harness, cut the wire out of the connector and re-attach the proper plug to supply the LS1 computer. I'll use the third gens starter wires to start the motor and provide power to the rest of the car, use the LS1's ignition wires spliced into the factory ignition wires to control start-up and killing the motor. I might be going too far into this so I'll stop here. Once I get the motor in the car it should make alot more sense to me
