will this kill battery?
Okay, i got a small 200watts amp hooked up,
wired directly from my battery.(with fuse ofcourse)
now i hooked up 2more wires from my 4th gen power seat wire,
to the power cable of amp,
and another wire hooked up to the same cable of amp
for the custom gauge lights.
I ran a switch for the gauge lights, so it only turns on
when i have my switch on.
my question is,
my power seats will work even when the car is off,
like i can move it around.
is this gonna drain battery as its always powered or something?
as well as my gauge lights?
thanks in advance for any thoughts!!
car is a v6 RS 91 btw.

If you are constantly moving the seat with the car off, yea after a couple hours!
The light would be my concern, maybe should be wired to a switched source in the fuse box.

thanks,
although i only turn the light on(thru the switch) on night time
it could still drain it right?
ill try hooking up the switch to something else in the fuse box then.. thanks.
any advise on where the ignition wire is are very appreciated also

You have other wires spliced into the big red power wire running from the battery to the amp?
If so, I'd say it's a no-no. Everytime I've ever seen anyone do anything with the big red wire from the battery to the amp, they ended up calling the fire department, and later the car crusher.
Also, please please please tell me you routed that big red amp wire through the firewall and into the interior - rather than running it through the door where it'll get crushed one day, short out, blow up the battery, cause a major fire, and allow me to buy what parts are left over for cheap! I've gotten most of my resto parts from cars that had an amp wired through the door to the trunk, and soon after caught fire and burned beyond recognition.

LOL at the firewall.
yes i did wire it through firewall haha.. thanks for the info though.
plus YES thats what i definately did,
i spliced 2wires to the red amp wire.
aside from possible firedepartment, could this drain battery too though?
i did take it off to see if it'll stop killing my battery,
i'll see how it goes tomorrow morning.
for the info though i guess ill have to splice it to somewhere else now.

Also, that amp wire has a large fuse in it (mine is 100 amp fuse) - meaning your seat (or whatever) could malfunction, and attempt to draw current through that circuit, but wouldn't blow the fuse until it drew 100 amps - anything over 30 amps would fry that wire to the power seat (or whatever). I guess you could put an inline fuse between the amp wire and the seat with a 20 or 30 amp fuse, but again, why do it half-a$$ed and risk your ride?
You should be able to find ample empty and available connections in the factory fuse block. I located at least 3 empty slots in mine, and used one for my power wire to my 4th gen power seat. I ran my wire behind the kick panel, and under the plastic channel at the bottom of the door to the side of the seat, then under the carpet to the center under the seat, and through a small slit I made in the carpet. Just crimp a spade connector on the wire, and stick into an empty slot marked battery +. Install an in-line fuse between that and the seat, get a good ground anywhere under the seat, and your set.
Just this week I also had a fuse that didn't function - my in-line fuseholder fried itself because the fuse didn't blow like it should have. Things aren't always perfect - and everyday companies are cutting corners to save a buck.
All I'm saying is that I've bought 4 burnt-up 3rd gens for parts in the last 2 years, all had amps that were wired badly - why risk your baby?

My amp wire is a 30 amp fast blow fuse.... I also put an inline fuse where I tied into it. My amp doesnt power subs, only the interior speakers.. It is turned waaaayyy down. I tied my power locks and car computer into my amp wire.

All these replies, but no answer to your question...
No. Just having things connected will not drain the battery, as long as they are not on and drawing power. If the lights are off, no power draw. Seat not moving...no power draw.
That'd be like your stock headlights killing the battery at night. They aren't on, right? Then there is no power draw, therefore not affecting the battery.
My sub amp is directly wired to my battery, but only draws power when the radio is on, and gets the turn on signal from the radio.
You'll be fine. Just make sure the fuse can handle the draw, with everything atached to it is on. Personally, I'd have make seperate connections, like through a distribution block.
