Fuse blows everytime it's connected
None of my taillights work right now, along with none of my park lights, hazards, or blinkers. I'm trying to find out the problem right now, but that's a different story. I looked at my fusebox to see if there are any blown fuses. They all had seemed alright, except for the 20A TAIL fuse... that's a goner. I tried replacing it, but to no avail, it just blows it again. I even tried a 30A fuse, and the same story there. Then I unplugged the battery, put the fuse in, and plugged the battery back in.. and sure enough, I heard the noise of a nicely toasted fuse
. Sure enough, it had fried to. I guess there's something somewhere that's sending too much voltage through somewhere?? What could be the problem here?
Also, maybe it's supposed to be like this, but I'm missing not only the fuse for the 10A CLSTR, but I'm missing those little pieces of metal that go there to send the current through entirely. Is that normal, or is it off to O'Reilly's for a few extra parts?

Re: Fuse blows everytime it's connected
it sounds like you have a short in the system and the fuse is blowing. that's the fuse's job. your job now is to find out where the short is occuring. There is a power wire for your taillights that is being grounded somewhere. Did you mess with any interior pieces lately where a screw might have cut into a wire? have you done anything else to the vehicle lately or had any other events/failures?

Re: Fuse blows everytime it's connected
hah, that's the thing.. I have NO idea. I JUST bought it
So I'm not sure really. I've pulled up all of the carpet and whatnot to trace the wires.
So what's this fuse for? Like, is it strictly all the taillights in the back, reverse lights, blinkers, park lights and all, or just some of the above? Also, if a few.. and when I say a few, I mean A LOT of the lights, are bad, would that cause it by any chance?

A bad light should not cause a fuse to trip, you have a short in the supply to ground. Trace all of your wiring from the taillights to the fuse box and ensure there is no physical or heat damage.

up to the dash, as far as grounding goes, everything looks just fine, minus a few cut cables, but they weren't being grounded anyways. But I'll run a few more experiments through them real quick.

Is the problem resolved?
I notice in your other thread you stated you found some shorts at a relay. Did this fix the problem?
