can anyone tell me what the heck this plug is for....the car is an 1985 t/a

that goes to the neutral safety switch. its located on the passenger side of the shifter.lemme guess, you turn the key and nothing happens right?

its for an automatic. if you have a manual then you dont have to worry about it. do your reverse lights work?

yea....everything works....i was just wondering....i seen it in there and was like...does it need hooked up

oh i guess its just a normal part of the harness then. i know mine used to go to my safety switch before i got my ratchet shifter.

For the record, it is the Automatic Transmission Shifter Switch connector. It's installed even on manual cars. It can be left unplugged.
The neutral switch is only part of the whole assembly (that holds 3 switches total).
This is a nice picture so even though the question has been answered, I am adding this post with the right keywords to make it easy to find in case somebody searches in the future.
