Car wont start...!!!!
OK i just bought the camaro from a used car dealership and for some reason the people who owned it before me put a starter switch/button in it and i was workin on the fuses yesterday and i changed out the bad ones but when i went to start in wouldn't. i put the key in and turned it and all the lights and heater came on but when i turned it more to start it everything turned off and nothing happened but when i let go the heater and lights came on but i pushed the starter button and the car started right up. i checked the fuses this morning and they are all in and everything, what could be the problem??

so you could start it with the push button and by turning the ignition cylinder? Is this an auto or a manual. What year? Could the range switch at trans bee off or out of adjustment, if it has one. I would bet the ignition switch probably gave out on ya.

then i would asume that the VATS system (the security antitheft system) is working properly. Still would point you towards testing that ignition switch

at the switch. Yellow wire which will be terminal A on the connector should have B+ (battery positive 12 volts) when attempting to start. Just backprobe it with a testlight. It should light up nice n bright if it is working.
If that tests ok make sure that the tan and white wire pin terminal F at the trans selector switch also has B+ when attempting to start. If it doesn't that would indicate a problem with the starter relay. If that tests ok make sure that the purple wire pin terminal E at the trans switch has B+ when attempting to start. This is the wire that goes eventually to the starter. IF you have power on everything but pin E the problem would be in the trans switch. Also since you said you were messin with the fuses check the 3amp crank fuse in the fuseblock. Also check to see how the previous owner wired up the pushbutton. Maybee they were having trouble with it also.

My 92 at times will not start, it is the KEY. when it gets wet from rain or sweat from being in my pocket the car will not start. this can be frustrating tell you figure it out. I keep a second set of keys in the car so when it will not start I pull out the 2nd set and she starts right up. I was going to get new keys but I am swapping in an LT1 this weekend hope to have it back on the road by FEB.
Ok I got off subject.
use an ohm meeter and see what the resistance is on your keys they should all be close to the same.
use one key and see if the car starts, when you turn on the car the security light on the dash will light up. try to start the car if the light stays on or comes back on, the problem is your key, do this with all your keys at the same time you may find out that you have one bad key. there are other threads here that will tell you how to bypass your VATS.
