Any Ideas on getting headlights up??
I have looked through the forum and I haven't found any good explanation on how to get the headlights into the up position when they are broken in the down position. I have a TDS rebuild kit and i didn't read any explanation on how to get the bucket up. I know this is a repeating problem that is asked of the board so please excuse another asking. I have an 1987 GTA if that is needed.

On the top of the motors is a ****. Turn it to the right to raise, left to lower. You may have to help the light come up with your hand if the bushing are completely destroyed

The gear ratio is very low, so you end up having to do many turns just for it to move a little bit.
Re: Any Ideas on getting headlights up??
If turning the **** doesn't raise/lower the lights, then the internal gears or clutches are shot and the motors need to be rebuilt.

Re: Any Ideas on getting headlights up??
I just got the motors out and I found that they are shot and I have just rebuilt them but the bad thing is that the pivot on the passenger side is broken do you think j-b weld will hold that together?? The pivot was the main problem on that side the other side popped up with pressure and turning the ****. I just forgot the direction to turn thanks for posting that.

It wasn't the arm it was the mount for the bucket. The pivot point that the light raises on not the lift arm. Will that still get a lot of stress or can it work with the j-b weld?

that will still be a lot of force, the j b weld will not hold the pressure.

OK well here is hoping that at Back to the Fifties Swap meet there will be some one with the Passenger side headlight bucket assembly for a Firebird.
