still having problems getting my car to run, wont start now. i tried to jmpr the 'a' and 'b' terms of the aldl but nothing comes on...??? i have the key in but car not on, only light that comes on is brake light (red)... i checked all the fuses under the column (about 10 or 11) , any other fuses or relays to check that maybe defective??? thnx

 

turn key to on position (not start, just on), the SES light should start blinking (unless the bulb is blown).

 

yes, the key is turned to on (not the run engine pos) and onl y lite i see is the ebrake lite on

 

 

i can try it when i get off work, thnx... any idea why it wont work withe ecm plugged in?? getting pissed, cant understand why nothing is working right and stuff failing... i mean i drove the car for a month ,let it for a few months and now problems. starter went, alt went, wont start, no code.... llooks like ill being doing a grnd resto alot earlier than i wanted to....

havent disconnected the ecm yet, but heres what i did:
1. found out check engine light was blown, changed it and it works now
2. bought $30 code reader from pepboys, obd1 (its flashes the lite for u)
3. put key in start pos, not run and lights just stays on and doesnt flash
4. the manual and books says it should flash 12 when normal
5. check ecm 10a fuse on drivers side pnl under dash
6. tried to jmpr aldl with wire and nothing , lites just stays on
7. visually inspected ecm...

 

a friend of mine let me borrow a fpg but the end broke so i cant check pressure... ill buy one tomorrow...
im still getting the same thing from m y car and cant read the codes.
it just cranks and cranks but doesnt turn over. if i continue to crank nothing will happen, i just here the starter clicking like mad...
i did check for spark with a screw driver near plug and got zapped, ...
i also put m y truck battery in just incase the new battery i bought was drained... and heres the wierd thing... the car drains battery while im troubleshooting... its happened 3 times, when i put my truck battery back i have to get a jmp cuz its not strong enough so something is also killing battery....

 

heres what i will do this week:
1. disco ecm like in post #4
2. check fuel pressure
3. swap ecm with my other 85'
4. maybe check spark on another plug
5. disco radio, lites, etc to see where drainage is coming from
any other suggestions would help.... im still trying to find a shop that is willing to work on our cars here in pittsburgh, pa

 

i have the factory service manual and chart says to check for various voltages and grounds and could possibly lead to a defective ecm and or starter solenoid.
i need help bad and quick!!! thnx all!!1
