CAMARO glovebox light?

Has anybody put a light in their camaro glovebox? I am thinking of doing it just for a little extra thing, but I need ideas on hwo to have it switched on and off. And how would I wire it? Where would teh power source come from?

Re: CAMARO glovebox light?

In the center console, or in the lock box in the driver rear?

My 'bird console has a light in it. If the Camaros didn't get the light, I bet you could always pull one out of a 'bird console & fit it into your Camaro console.

I was talkign about thec enter console. If I remember right, there is already a hole there which looks like a light would go there.

The hole is for the clock stem (some cars were equipped with an analogue clock). You might consider LED's in the dome light. I swapped a board into my overhead console and the difference is remarkable.

Re: CAMARO glovebox light?

The analog clocks were on top of the console. He is referring to a hole inside the center console "glove box".

Which is where I'm sure he is saying his hole is. Inside the compartment on the front wall, just like mine is.

I think the socket for the bulb clips to the back of the lens just like the rear compartment/"trunk" light does, under the hatch right by the pulldown motor/latch assembly.

As I mention above, the hole (inside the compartment) is made for the stem on the Camaro analogue clock.

EDIT: Since I've never seen pics of the stem on site, here are a couple.

How would I have it switched on and off? I'm not doing to because it's too dark in there, I just want a little in my interior.

Re: CAMARO glovebox light?

Here is the Firebird one. Bigger the just the tiny hole & the pressure button on top that turns on the light when you open the console cover, just like the doors press on a switch to turn on/off the overhead interior light.

I don't think the Camaro lids cover the top of the console as much as the Firebird covers do, but I bet something could be figured out for the pressure switch.

Worst case? Use a hatch light that has the switch built in. Just won't turn on/off the light by itself for you.

Either way. Have to cut a hole rather than just drilling a hole like that clock shaft.
