ok i have a 86 camaro and the previous owner screwed it up beyond belief they dropped a 350 small block chevy edlebrock 4 barrel carb and they messed the wiring all up this will take a bit the car starts and drives fine but the headlights when turned on short out the guages and me right blinker stays on but doesn't blink and if i turn the light **** then all the way to the right then it will shut the dash lights off including the blinker that is solid on the right the blinkers blink differently than each other such as the right is slightyly faster than the left the fuse box and wiring is messed up and the wires under the hood are a nightmare they are spliced the fog lights are gone because they have a berlinetta front bumper on it and not sure if the wires are even there any help would be great i will post some pictures soon.

Well, never mind then i have been to that site, and i already have wiring diagrams. If you can be of more help that would be much better.

 

The only way any of us internet folks could be of any more help is if we came over and physically helped you rewire the car - but we don't even know where you live.

Your best bet is to get together with some local car guys and see if anyone can help you rewire what's messed up, or else sell the car and buy one that hasn't been hacked so badly.

Alright sorry guys i found what was wrong i also have another camaro its an '88 and i switched the gauge board out and it works fine. The old ones circuit board thing was messed up and it all works. It doesn't short out the gauges anymore and it works pretty good now.

 

 

i have an 86, swapped to a 350 by the previous owner. still tpi so imagine my wire nest makes me want to cry. i had the same right blinker thing but now i dont and my tach doesnt work ;( also the right blinker light doesnt even light up at all now. getting pretty pissed off to tell u the truth

 

I AM WORKING ON A 86 CAMARO WITH NON DIGITAL DASH ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE GAUGES DO ALL KINDS OF ERRATIC STUFF. THIS ONLY HAPPENED SINCE THE CAR WAS TAKEN OUT OF WINTER STORAGE. I SUSPECT A MOUSE MAY HAVE CHEWED THE WIRING, BUT I WAS WONDERING IF A DASH GROUND CONNECTION COULD BE THE PROBLEM, CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHERE THE MAIN DASH GROUND WOULD BE, OR DO YUO HAVE ANY OTHER IDEAS ON THIS SITUATION.
