Hey everyone, I have a 1990 Camaro RS 5.0 L V8 Auto. Trans. And lately I have been having a problem where my headlights (HB & LB) will come on, but shut off after a short while. This obviously can become a bit scary at night. After they shut off, however, they will usually come back on after a few seconds but not always. Someone told me I probably need a new headlight switch. Others mumbled on about fuses and a relay, but I honestly don't know. Also, I recently had a new ignition switch and Dimmer Switch put in. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

 

Yeah that sounds like the headlight switch. I had the same problem not to long ago. The headlight switch has a circuit breaker built into it. When the breaker goes out....itll reset after a short time. You should really check for any loose or scratched wires on the headlights also. Make sure all the grounds are good. If thats all good a new switch will probably do the trick. I think I got mine from AZ for about 12 bucks. Just be careful removing the old switch. theres a screw in part thats plastic and it can break easily......trust me lmao. Thank god for super glue lol. Good luck

I had the same thing start to happen to me while driving at night. Scared me bad when it first happened going into a corner and they failed. I found i could make it happen with the lights on if i tapped on the switch or wiggled it just right. Replaced it and been working fine ever since then.
