I've been wanting to try these, but I'd also be worried about the plastic reflector.

Re: Brighter back up and reverse lights?
i put in a set of the SilverStars in my car, and yes they are noticeably brighter.
i'll never use the standard bulbs again.
if you get a set, just put one in on one side, set the park brake, turn the key on and leave the engine off and put it in reverse.
then go to the back of the car and block the SilverStar, then block the stock
bulb. of course you want to do it at night to really see the difference.
make sure your lens are clean, polishing them won't hurt either if they are clouded up.
Al, im with you, those bulbs you linked to would probably cook the lens pretty quick.

Re: Brighter back up and reverse lights?
I would try getting the higher wattage bulbs. As far as the 50 watt bulbs. I would propably only use one of them though. I wouldnt worry about them over heating but overloading the circuit. I just put a 55 watt flood light on the back of my truck.

Still makes me cautious about the reflector though...

Re: Brighter back up and reverse lights?
I feel that the 50W halogen will not harm the plastic tail lamp housing because they're not on for a very long time (relatively speaking).
I say this because the regular 1156 bulb will get pretty damn hot itself if left on for a long time. I wanted more light from the underhood light so I replaced the 93 bulb with an 1156. The 1156 actually cooked itself to death after 10-15 minutes. It got DANG hot too.
