Re: Has Anyone Made Their Own Circuit Board

i made some simple ones back in the '90s for some
crossover networks-bought a kit,possibly at radio shack,
that included a couple unetched circuit boards, etchtant,
trays, and some stick on strips to form the circuit traces
before dunking in the etchtant tray.Job was easy but a
little messy

How pretty does it have to be and how much work do you want to do?

If you want pretty then photoresist would be the way to do it. Plot your art on transparency sheets, expose a sensitized board in a UV box, develop as appropriate, etch in your favorite etchant, drill your holes. You'll need to do some test sheets to develop your process first.

Or if you want quick and dirty, a dalo pen, plain copper blank pcb, and ferric chloride. If that filthy stuff even exists anymore! Made heaps of pcb's using both methods when I was a kid.

Re: Has Anyone Made Their Own Circuit Board

Here is what im trying to make. i think my best bet is either the toner transfer or the photoboard.

Re: Has Anyone Made Their Own Circuit Board

Go to Digi-Key, Newark Electronics, or Jameco Elect (google them) and look for a kit that uses transfers generated by a laser copier.

Draw the circuit, print it, and transfer to copper with an iron. Then etch the copper with an etching kit (tray and acid).

It looks beautiful and professional!
