Re: what is this switch for

I think that switch is for one of these options:

1. Rear Wiper Washer
2. Cruise Control On/Off
3. Fog Lamps

Based on the wire color code, I think it's for the cruise control.

That's wild, cruise in the console and not on the turn signal lever! It would be easy to tell if it's one of the three, do you have a rear wiper, or fog lights? If yes to either of those then that would be it. If no, it would have to be cruise.

Looks like rear wiper switch to me. Cruise is horizontal mount on console Both from ebay auctions first is wiper, console mounted. Maybe hatch was changed?

Re: what is this switch for

It's a cruise control plug,.....

84-86 Berlinetta's had a cruise control "ON/OFF" button that was possibly mounted in 2 different locations. Most of them were placed on the "filler panel" behind the radio ( horizontal mounted button ) but some were factory mounted on the top of the center console ( vertically mounted button. )

My Cruise button is on the second row down and on the right.....

Yeah, this seems like one GM didn't totally think through for heavily optioned Berlinettas. That console gets quite cluttered. I looked for images all over because it intrigued me. That cruise button I posted said it was mounted on the console, I didn't think about the spot where the radio would be with no pod.

Re: what is this switch for

Here's a pic showing where it was factory mounted on the 84's........ I think it got moved to the middle of the center console starting in late 85. When I converted this car to a stick I had no use for the manual TC lock-up toggle button that was in the middle of the center console and moved the Cruise to that spot to fill the hole.

Factory lockup cut out? Always wondered why they never had them in our cars. Guess it was another option not sprung for often.

Re: what is this switch for

No - No, Not factory,...... custom wired toggle for TC Lock-up.

I used a factory Berlinetta option button ( just scratched off the script ) as a manual TC lock-up button so that I had an "ON" light when the TC was engaged and to keep the factory "look".
