So my 91 z28 is not charging. Now i know what you are thinking probably something along the lines of "how hard could the be to figure out what a tard" but just hold on a second and let me explain. Car has a brand new battery, altinator has tested good at autozone and oreilleys, possitive cable is 0.001ohms so no resistance there, grounds are clean and tight. I still think its the altenator because when running the voltage drops about .01 ever couple of seconds from 11.8 and dropping

 

Sometimes you can get a "dud" battery brand new, happened to me once. Try swapping it again if you have another car or something you can trade batteries with, if it still doesn't charge then you have fully ruled out the battery.

 

Battery charges from a charger and passes a load test im pretty sure its good

 

Fair enough. Sounds like an alternator problem is the only other thing it could be.

 

So i guess i should cave and go buy a new one then... yay me haha

Maybe it has the wrong one on it or something, if someone replaced it recently. (i.e. put one for a non-A/C car on it instead of one for an A/C car). Who knows.

Yeah im replacing most things any way was hoping not to have to replace that to but oh well. The best part of owning this old car is the previous owners were definitley not mechanics so just about all the wire harnes clips are broken. Any ideas of where to get a engine harness?

 

Lovely. I'd say your local pull-a-part/junkyard/etc if you wanna get one cheap. Otherwise Ebay and various places online have them used and new or NOS.

 

I would like a new one and picknpull will most likely never have a l98 tuned port injected anything in there yards around here haha
