Wiper motor issue

Finally started tackling the wiper motor, bolted it up, used a connector from the parts car harness that goes to the connector from the switch, found the wires that were cut under the dash and at the firewall, I've been reading up on threads and it appears I should have 12 volts going to the purple wire at the firewall right? Well I hooked that up to the middle terminal on the L-shaped plug port on the wiper motor and all I get is clicking when on the high position. I even put power directly from the battery to the terminal and all I get is clicking. Is the motor bad? I disconnected the wiper arm to make sure it wasn't froze. What gives? I already have another wiper motor coming to my shop just in case, but is it safe to assume its bad? I've never seen it work, it came in box along with other stuff that got taken out!

With the wiper unit unplugged, key in the ACCY position, and the wiper switch in the HI position, use your voltmeter to probe the pink, dark green, gray, and purple wires.
Which wires do you have power on?

The only ones I hooked up so far were the purple and gray one, I get 11.89 at the purple one

Also, when the connector is hooked up, does the washer work?

I got no power to the gray wire, only the purple one. The pink one isn't hooked up yet. I don't have a connector for it. The washer pump isn't plugged in as I don't have the reservoir

OK, progress.

You need to have power on the
gray wire.

You can start your probe at the stalk to see if you have power on the
gray wire at that location when the stalk is in the HI Wipers position with the key in the ACC position, and if you do, see if it’s getting thru what we call C100 which is located near the left front of the dash below the relay bracket.

But you just said I shouldn't have power there? Maybe I spliced the wrong gray wire, I'll double check

Whoops sorry about the typo.

As I stated in post #6 you need power on the
gray wire for model year 1984.

There are changes from year to year changing the status of the
gray wire.

What terminal on the motor does the power wire go to?
