Neutral Safety Switch help!

I've been trying to find out where the neutral safety switch is on my 85 camaro 5 speed trans? I want to know where to bypass it or get a new one. I've went to part stores and have it for auto trans but not manual trans. Need help . Please post pics on where it is on a manual trans and how to bypass it.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch help!

What are you trying to bypass? A manual trans does not use a Neutral Safety switch, it has no way to detect a neutral position.

That's the Clutch Pedal Position switch. Keeps you from accidentally starting the car without having the clutch applied. I wouldn't bypass that, at a minimum, you could wreck your car, worse case scenario you could hit someone.

Mines disconnected and hasn't been connected since i owned it. Could that affect my car starting?

It's designed to keep the engine from cranking if you don't have your foot on the pedal, but if the car just recently won't crank, sounds like it was bypassed somewhere else and that jumper came loose or maybe a connector somewhere else came loose. When you try to start the car, do you have voltage at the Purple wire? IIRC the voltage should go through your ignition switch, through the Clutch Pedal Position switch (also called a Starter Safey Switch sometimes), then to the starter solenoid.

Lie on floor , put head by brake pedal and look up

There is /was a switch on the clutch pedal
The connector that went there is most likely where the jumper you have found came from
