Another vats issue
Another vats issue
I have a 91 tbi 305 car. The vats system is throwing a fit. I have tried all kinds of things via info on this forum. Has anyone tried using an aftermarket alarm bypass to fix the issue?
Re: Another vats issue
what i did because my car can with the wrong type ignition is under the hood by the relays on driver side firewall is the wiring harness. i jumped the small orange wire to the large pink wire. no mine works. i didnt cut them just removed enough shielding frome them to twist a wire end around them. then taped the ends. but thats just me. mine was a backet case

You do not need a "remote starter bypass module" to get around the vats. The stereo shops that install remote starters use a resistor to jumper the vats system. You can buy a pack of about 14 that covers all the GM vats systems. Measure your key chip resistance with an ohm meter to find out which resistor you will need. After that ,take off the drivers side knee panel under the steering column. Locate the 2 white wires inside of an orange insulating sheathe. There will be a small white plastic plug connector at the end. Cut the plug end closest to the steering column and solder the resistor across those 2 wires on that end. This should solve your problem. Costs about $8 and 15 minutes of your time.

My vehicle has a distributor in it. If it would have coil packs that might work.

Yes, I wish I had used Tuned Performance in the beginning. It would have saved me a ton of trouble.
