I found these but I'm pretty sure they are just like the eBay "projector" housings. I just got done looking at a couple dozen headlight conversion threads and have come to the conclusion that there really isn't a solution to upgrading the headlights without doing lots of modification. I know I could either get silverstars (heard they don't last very long) or spend $500+ for legit lights but neither of those sound appealing. Most of the threads I read were just throwing HIDs/LEDs into halogen housings which results in blinding oncoming traffic and/or not improving the visibility range over stock halogens. If anyone has any insight about the link I posted or another method or product I'd appreciate it.
I believe you misunderstand me. I know I can buy sets of retrofit kits for all four lights for around $300 but they do not have real projectors. I'm not going to spend money so I can blind people and see less distance. If you think you found some threads that adhere to what I have stated, then post the links.
Understood just fine.Retrofit involves retrofitting real factory OEM projectors with HIDs.Since that's what projectors were designed for anyway. This way you will not blind oncomoing traffic & will allow you to see further without requiring a four headlight mod.
Retrofitting projectors/HIDs to your hi-beams is unnecessary. So installing four of these would be a waste of time & money.I won't even bother commenting on the link you posted. If you want to see some retrofiting threads try hidplanet.com
I looked at skinny boy lighting already. Looks like nice quality stuff but $300 for 2 lights is a little pricey. The reason I want all four is so it will match. Having two awesome lights and two old school halogens will look kind a dumb imo. I probably will go with him if it comes down to it however.
As for the link yeah I think those are pretty much pointless. I know what retrofitting is but Camaros do not have "real factory OEM projectors" to retrofit so I'm not sure what you are getting at. If you mean projector housings from another car than that would fall under "lots of modifications" as I stated in the first post and is not what I am looking for.
Of course they don't have projectors, that's what retrofitting is.Installing real factory type projectors into cars not originally equipped with such. There is some work involved, but it's definately not a ton of modification.
I understand having the matching look, but the hi beams don't need to be HID.Just look the part, did the same to mine.Hardly use them though as the lo beams do more than enough to illuminate the road.
You can fit OE style projectors into a stock fitting lamp, like those cheapy lamps in the link & they will fit with minimal mods to the car. It's been done, not just by me, but others here.Do a search, my thread is burried deep on this forum & I don't have the time to dig it out.
I have been looking at the following in E-Bay. They accept H-4 Bulbs and "look" ok. At this price I may try them and see. 60 day return policy, How bad could they be???LOL http://www.ebay.com/itm/4pc-4X6-Chro...tUwZRZ&vxp=mtr

Hey bro, I think you will regret getting these. Seriously, I speak from personal experience. I have these and the light output is TERRIBLE. I got better light output from a single halogen old school bulb as opposed to two or even 4 of the ebay projector housings. That should give you an idea of how horrible the light pattern is!! Not only does the light suck but you will get "flashed" by oncoming cars because the light is not emitted towards the road/front of vehicle, it is all over the place. I turned these exact headlights into projectors and love them now! Twas a **** ton of work and cutting on the lenses and the buckets to get them to fit. May want to check out your local junk yard for some projectors out of a different make of vehicle. If you got the $40 burning a hole in your pocket try 'em and see. You may like 'em but I doubt it. Just keep all of the packaging for returns, 'eh.
you can get 2 real and 2 dummy lights for $300 through skinnyboy. He gets expensive if you want halos, demon eyes and stuff like that. when you price what the actual projectors are, he's not making much money on these and shipping is included in the price. you wont get quality lighting cheap. If you arent willing to spend the money on true HIDs you might as well stick with sealed beams.
Thanks for the input on the "cheapies" I have used Hella and Cibie H-4 lights and they have great output and sharp cut off patterns (Z-Beams)
I am not in a hurry to waste my money and don't want to spend anywhere near $300 for lights. So I will keep looking.
Thanks!!
Actually thinking now that te cheapies are not worth the money I am finding Hella replacements for both high and low beams at about $100 per pair on Amazon. http://www.myhellalights.com/index.p...ion-headlamps/
I used these on our 77 Camaro and other cars and find that with 100 watt bulbs they give a great amount of light and well defined pattern. I am not sure how much better the HID lights are but I think I will probably give these another try.
Yea! i've been wanting to drive this after work but took the headlights out a week ago, so they were installed tonight asap! i will need to walk you through 2 things when installing the bulb cartridge. Not tough. you will need a 1.5" x 1/16" rubber washer to cut and make contact pads to the bulb ear so it backs off the housing glass a little. but a couple pictures and you'll see what i mean.
