Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
Hmm, definitely could be AC stuff, but my car didn't have that option, and the plug it shiny like it had been connected. I don't think there were any electric fan options in 83, were there?
Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
Sure I can take any pics that'd help. What exactly? My first post shows the plug, and the harness. The harness comes out of the firewall behind the passenger head, and has the connections for the blower motor.
Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
Oh pic didnt load on app for me. Its light green. I dont think v6s have an ac throttle kicker. Must be from a thermostatic vac valve or sensor. Does it go into the loom under the ac box that runs to the ecm. It goes through the pass side a pillar behind the kick panel
Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
A LT GRN wire that is part of the HVAC control goes to two places. The pressure cycling switch on the receiver/dryer and the idle stop solenoid. Wrong connector for the A/C pressure switch, but easily the correct connector for the idle stop solenoid.
If the wire reaches the carb that would be my guess.
Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
Thanks guys! Knew we'd get it figured out. I pulled the V6 thinking I labeled everything but... never the case.
So, with a non computer controlled motor that has an Eddy 1406 on top... how do I connect this wire? Or do I not need to? What does the Idle Stop Solenoid do?
Wish I could CTRL+F on my FSM! So hard to search for things in that big book.
Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
Though it seems I'm reading the Idle Stop Solenoid is to idle up with the AC on, is that correct? I have a non-AC car, and this plug does appear to have been connected somewhere.
Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
Idle stop solenoids can be used to close the throttle plates on a carb when shutting off so the engine doesn't diesel. You set the idle with it activated and have minimum set point with it without power.
Another thing it could do is raise idle speed with the A/C on also.

That is my understanding, that it ups the idle speed when the A/C is on. It being a non-A/C car it was likely not used. Since it looks like it had been connected, maybe it was but not to the correct location.
Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
Ah HA! Maybe this pic will help!! This was the connection that the green wire USED to go to. Black plug that had three wires. This green wire coincided with a yellow on the other side of the plug. Black was ground. Blue had no mate on the other side of the plug.
Re: Green wire coming out behind engine near heater box...?
HVAC wiring. Look at the diagram that OrangeBird posted, top center. The LT BLU wire goes to the P/S pressure cutout switch. Which then goes on to the A/C compressor clutch.
This causes the A/C compressor to shut off when P/S pressure is high, such as when parking at low speed. Prevents the engine from stalling due to the added engine load from the P/S pump.
