speedometer works intermittently then dash lights go out

so when i bought this car i saw that the spedo worked once in a while .. no real issue as i downloaded an app on my phone .. was driving to get my daughter and saw the spedo working properly and correct speed .. now for the twist.. it’s getting darker earlier here in south texas and i got to my daughters karate around 545 and flipped on my parking lights cause who doesn’t love the look of a flat black firebird with its sexy parking lights on.. and i noticed that none of my dash lights worked, i pulled up behind a big truck and noticed my parking lights were also not on.. i flipped them on and off a few times and then hit the main lights, those came up right and bright, but my parking lights never came on, turn signals worked fine, .. so my question is.. where the hell would the spedo and dash lights have such a connection that when one is on, the other is off.. on my way to work this am the spedo didn’t work but my parking

lights did

Re: speedometer works intermittently then dash lights go out

found that the 20 watt tail fuse was blown.. fixed all lights, pulled the gauge cluster and cleaned all the terminals thinking it was causing the speedometer to be intermittent but it didn’t change anything.. off to the next problem
