in line fuse busted need help with trunk/rear lights

ok i blew a in-line fuse with my pull down motor. i could not locate the in-line fuse in my dash and no one here was very helpful.

i wana believe theres still some good people on here. so i'll try 1 last time. if it was all about figure it out for yourself then whats the point of this forum?

anyways my rear side markers are not working either. are they on the same inline fuse as the pull down motor? i had to re-wire my pulldown motor with a new fuse and new power connection. it works now.

but still have problems with side markers and possibly my left tailight but everything is aftermarket and the the right talilight led upgrade still works fine.

so to recap - blown pull down motor in line fuse and rear side markers do not work.

i have no problem re-wiring it or if someone can help me clearly identify location and a photo of what i'm looking for for the in-line fuse or has any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks guys

There is no in line fuse for the pull down, you may have melted the wire then? or you have a bad ground. And if the tail lights have an issue, it is probably a ground because they all connect to the same location, including the pull down

do you happen to know the location of the ground for that circuit?

i have print outs of the wiring diagrams, there is a in-line fuse dealing with the power wire of the pull down motor in my 1986 trans am. but whatever i don't wana argue about it. i ran a new power wire with a fuse and its working again so thats all i care about. but my REAR SIDE MARKERS are still not functional. and i still need to diagnose my aftermarket left taillight. the bulbs are not part of it anymore i installed circuit boards with sequential LEDs.

everything was fine until i took on the project of replacing my pulldown motor and shorted the power wire cuz i didnt disconnect the battery.

i appreciate the response thanks.

I can look in my book, but the ground for all that should be right near the pull down motor, there are only 3 or 4 locations for all the grounds inside the car.

If you replaced the bulbs with a sequencer, you may have cut the side markers out of the circuit?
It is hard to diagnose stuff like this since we have no idea what you actually did and what you've changed. If you have a diagram, I would start checking voltages and ground connections. For you know the circuit for the LH side of the lights could be bad.

Re: in line fuse busted need help with trunk/rear lights

i know i'm not asking you to fix my custom work. the taillights are my problem and might be related to the side markers.

the ground wire for the pulldown motor is still firmly on bolt mount in the trunk.

i'm just saying the everything was working until the i the wiring connector dangling while disconnected touched the cars shell and shorted and blew the in-line fuse. its deep under the dash and with all my other modifications i have too many custom wires in the way unless i know exactly where to look which i do not.

after re-wiring a power wire to the pull down motor it worked again.

but regardless you are probably right about this being a ground issue. maybe i knocked or tugged something loose when working back there.

i'm just trying to get a mental visual before i rip the car apart to fix this very simple problem. thanks

The grounds for the left and right rear markers are located in the left and right harnesses near the left and right turn signals.

The odds are low they failed simultaneously therefore check the common point which is the voltage side, located in the connector at the left rear of the cargo area.

IIRC, the Camaro and Firebird use different wiring methods for the pull-down.

What model/year are you working on?

Re: in line fuse busted need help with trunk/rear lights

ok problem appears to be solved. fixed my rear side markers and my left turn signal.

i think i need to replace my headlight/parking light switch, i toggle the P switch forward and things come on. but when i press to have my headlights up the parking lights dont come on unless i wiggle or firmly press the P switch in more. the head light switch takes the P switch with it when turned on.

and messing with the wiring i fixed my custom LED board left turn signal.

all is well with the world. thanks for those who chimed in.
