Help with mystery connector on steering column

Hey everyone,

I'm in the middle of a lengthy build on an 87 camaro, and have spent the whole day tied up by one wire.

There is one red wire with its own plug that is on the harness above the steering column that I cant find the other end of.

I have trolled every diagram and picture I could, even looked for it in a different third gen i have..

I'm hoping someone has seen this before, I'd really hate to skip this and find out what it does later.

Thanks
Mark

Because I hate to see a thread go unanswered , I'll give you my best guess since I'm not sure where it goes either ;

Could it possibly plug into the fusebox to power an accessory like the power pull down for the rear hatch , or perhaps to power the foglights or rear defroster ?

On the rear of the fuse panel are connectors that things plug into. This might be the right shape to plug in a connector. If you swing the fuse panel down you should see the parts I am talking about. They are also illustrated in the service manual, though I haven't specifically seen anything that connects to them. I used those locations for power points for my alarm and a few other additions. They are out of sight instead of being on the face of the fuse housing

Thanks. I went and took a look. Unfortunately it does not fit into the box. I swear there was a same colored plug for it somewhere.

Re: Help with mystery connector on steering column

Damn! I do not recognize it either...
Being a large/ heavy gauge wire; it should have to do with Power-Distribution.

The Fuse-Panel, Driver's Convenience-Center, and C238 Distribution-Center should be the only places that it goes...
But I really do not recognize it... Hmm...
There is a slight chance that connector should go into the C238 Power-Distribution Center.
But I do not really think so.

What Power-Electrical Interior options does the car have (power windows, power locks, power seats, Etc) ?

Here is an image of C238. It should be behind the driver's kick-panel, that has the hood-release pull-handle on it:

Fog Light Power Connector.............

know it was used on the 86-87 Camaros, but not sure what other cars/years had it.

Thank you John,

This would explain why I'm losing my mind. No fogs on this one and its an 87.
