I am installing my old cigarette lighter socket from my old console to my new one, and i reassembled it wrong. The socket was working before I removed it. I had to take it all the way apart because it was it was corroded and would not come apart, So I used a dremel tool and cleaned off the corrosion and I thought I reassembled it in the correct order, but I obviously did not. Now every time I put in a new fuse or plug in the socket, it blows the ACC fuse.

Does anyone have an exploded view of the socket parts, or can describe what order the parts go together?

 

I don't have a diagram, however, if you are blowing a fuse, it's likely that the positive and negative are shorting together, so the fuse is doing its job.

 

Now is the perfect time to install a USB port in place of the old lighter socket...

 

There are only two parts. Most of the lighter sockets are fairly generic, get a new socket.

 

well, I solved it. I had the 2 washers reversed. I put the insulator washer in place of the metal washer, and it works. It no longer blows fuses, and the USB charger gets power.

And all for free!
